CDK Vybez brings international fame to U.S. audience with new album ‘FREPALE’
LAS VEGAS, NV – Chrishaun Evans-Fowler – better known as CDK Vybez – is a third-generation musician who has taken the international stage by storm and who is ready to expand into the U.S. in big ways.
Born into a musically gifted family, CDK’s grandfather L.C. Scurry was the lead trumpet player for Ray Charles, while his father was the member of Las Vegas’ own The Look Band. By age 5, CDK was already following in his elders’ footsteps and was entered into a drumming competition. He did so well that by the end of his performance his mother was being handed business cards for management opportunities.
Today CDK Vybez’s fan base encompasses multiple countries. He has an album that has gone gold in Canada, and he has quite a following in the UK, Germany, the Ukraine and Canada. As he expands into the U.S., he already is starting to see a following coming out of the Pacific Northwest, and he hopes his new album “Frepale” will continue to help that following grow.
“The word is a slang word in Greek that means ‘money,’” CDK said. “Every language has slang, and Frepale is Greek Ghetto for money. I named it that for the simple fact that I see the goal, and it isn’t money. Instead of falling into statistics, the songs on the album talk about putting in the work to make myself successful. Singles like ’24 Hours in London’ and ‘Come With Me’ aren’t just talking about money.”
CDK said the album is unique in that it showcases his original arrangements. Though his beats will be familiar to fans of hip-hop and R&B music, his lyrics and style are very original and showcase an artist who is “miscellaneous, unpredictable and emotional.”
“Euphoric,” he said. “I like that word. I give you a euphoric feeling when you hear my music.”
And throughout all of his music is woven a simple message for anyone who listens: speak your mind and be yourself.
“There are other people in the world like you,” he said. “You aren’t the only person in the world who feels how you feel. If you’re sad, I’m talking about it. If you’re struggling financially, I’m speaking about it. If you have financial instability or problems with your parents, or a child on the way – I’m speaking about it. I’m making music about everything – sometimes made up stories that people have told me, sometimes songs that are personal. But the majority of my music is love songs and party music.”
CDK said he loves to make music in the Top 40 pop genre, R&B ballads, trap music and even some country music every now and then. Essentially, he can make music in any genre and doesn’t want anyone to paint him into a box.
His first single from the new album is called “Let the Music Guide You.” It’s a song that talks about going to a club and letting loose and having fun and having a good time, letting the music do what it does and make you feel how you want to feel.
