NEW MUSIC: MUSIQ SOULCHILD – ‘START OVER’

A year after releasing his critically-acclaimed album Life on Earth, Musiq Soulchild pushes reset with his soulful new single, “Start Over.”

Over a smooth beat, the R&B crooner rekindles an old flame with memories of better days. “Who’s better for you, girl?” he asks. “You know and I know, no one else can love you the way you know that I could love you, girl.”

Blending suave moments with real talk, Musiq drops a persuasive proposition. “This time, I’ll get it right,” he sings. “How about we start over? / We ain’t getting younger, babe.”

The Philly singer, who is reportedly expecting a baby with girlfriend Tiyumba Wright, is coming off his “Nu Soul Revival Tour,” with Lyfe Jennings, Kindred The Family Soul, and Avery*Sunshine. A few months ago, he also unleashed his forthcoming album’s lead single, “Simple Things.” Now, he’s gearing up for his eighth solo studio album, set to drop this summer.
